Most wax's perform the same other then temperture set ups that being said. I use sticky bumps.
Fins: there are two many variables. It depends on the type of board you have the rocker your level ect...

i use sex wax

but only because i got a whole ton of it for free when I bought one of my boards. But I recently tried sticky bumps and found that it seemed to apply easier and more uniformly. Maybe it was just me getting better at applying.
I can't tell the difference in performance.

i use sex wax original, but when it gets really cold i might use palmers, i find its that little bit softer.

I don't think the make of wax makes a vast amount of difference, i use mounty mounds, cos i wish my missus had them.
Fins are a total different kettle of fish. I use different fins depending on the size of the wave. All my boards are FCS set up. In small waves I use the G3, they've changed them now but thats the comparible, i use the glass flex. Any bigger than than 5ft the G5. Thats my preference
Smaller wave don't need to make as fast or hard turns so the slacker smaller fin works for me.

i been trying out a bunch of fins from my local shop, so far the FG-5s are the ones i liked best, really positive feel from them from the extra stiffness (i was using G-PRs previously), i got the H-2s at the moment but i cant say im that impressed considering the amount of hype FCS throw out about them.
Have you tried the little GS back fin for smaller waves, im thinkin of trying one for next summers slop if i get a set of FG-5s for xmas

They have changed the G-PRs. Its the M series (glass flex mentioned above) which is more responsive than the old ones.
If you go on the FCS website there is a fin selector section you tap in your details and it recomends which fins would better suit you. Funny thing is it nearly always has the H2 at the top of the list.

yeah that fin selector i bunk. i tried it before, no matter what i typed in it came out as H2 as 100%, 3D red tip as 100% and then the rest. I tried the red tip and thought it was rubbish, although i could see how someone on aminimal might like it. what did they change about the GPRs? i got mine about 2.5 years ago with my board, theyre plastic tho i think, and the FG5s where much stiffer. havent tried any of the M series fins but ill ask about them when i take these h2s back tomorrow

Not silly questions at all.
Sticky Feet Surf wax is by far the best surf wax you can buy.
Fins ? Well it's not so much a case of whether your fin set up is for intermediate surfers. Rather, the fin type that best suits your board design. And that all depends on what kind of surfer you are. Only you know that. Best you ask your board maker for his suggest on what kind of fin set up might best suit you.
Tell him what kind of surf you most regularly like, what manouvers you like to perform etc. It's likely he will provide you with the right fin set up.

Best surf wax is an endless discussion! Depends what your looking for really. My website looks into the question (
www.bestsurfwax.com). It's new but I hope to have a least an awesome discussion about the best surf wax available.
Right now, I say its Rob Machados Organic Blend
