Not another new surfer!?

Yes, another new surfer. I'll try and make it quick.

Okay, I'm going to buy my first board. I can surf a mini-mal alright but I'm definitely still a begginer. I want to surf a shortboard eventually and am not too keen on wasting money buying a mini-mal only to replace it in 6 months for a shortie now that I get to surf all the time.

So, fish, are they easy to learn on? I surf in the north of England where the waves are never that massive so that's not a problem. I just want something to surf small surf on that won't drive me mad getting used to.

Any help would be fantastic! ...J...

dude about a 6'6 fish should be great for beginners as the wider it is the easier it is to get up on and surf, it just limits how much u can turn. if you see a reasonably small board look for its width wider the easier but if you surf all the time you may as well just simply go for a shortie and just slowly adapt to it and get sum lessons from a surf school or private schooling or off a m8.!
