Tons of Research!

Postby Patrick__69 » Tue Aug 08, 2006 11:16 pm

Ok I have been doing tons of research and Im pretty sure Ive made up my mind on a board.

6'4" FLYER Al Merrick CI & SURFTECH Performance Surfboard

THE FLYER The most popular shortboard in the channel island line up. The board excels in small to medium surf but still rides and responds like a conventional shortboard surfboard!
Al Merrick considers this surf board the best small wave short board he has ever designed and this model is even better when made from Tuflite by Surf Technologies.
It should be ridden 2"-3" shorter than your everyday surfboard.

Tail: Squash
Fins: FCS GAM Fins!
Glass: Ultra Lite Fiberglass/Epoxy
Current Sizes: 6'4"

COLORS: Assorted SurfTech Colors!!
We can let you know available colors after you place your order!

Dimensions:
Nose: 12 1/5"
Mid: 19 1/2"
Tail: 14 1/2"
Thick: 2 1/5"

I usually surf in the summer and its usually around 1 meter waves which is perfect for me. Its 6'4 which is fairly short for my first board but It is more buyont due to the fact its a Turflite so it should be easier to paddle but still able to duck dive. It can handle its self in big surf and is used by a few pros in overhead surf which is good if I do get to that level eventually. Another good thing about it is that it is more resistant to dings but not indestructable so I will still take good care of it(like a baby). The cons are the lightness of the board which could make it a bit choppy in unglassy water and the fact is does not have much felx. I should be able to get used to this as I have never ridden any other shortboard and have nothing else to compare it to. Im 130 pounds 6'1 any sugestions would be great if I should go bigger in length or smaller or anything. Thanks.

sounds good, if your willing to shell out the dough, then go for it!

just remember to stick with it, and not get too frustrated because it will be hard to begin with, as you will be getting used to such a smaller board.
