Surfing Waves

I'm 5'6" and weigh 129lbs and currently riding a 7'2" mini mal.

I'm planning on getting my first shortboard but im not entirely sure on which size i should get. Would a 6'5" or 6'6" be too big for a shortboard for me?? Please help me out im really stuck!

How are your skills on the 7'2"?

i dunno if it was a good idea, but when i first started shortboarding, i just took the plunge and got a really short board. I was about 5'11 at the time and I got a 6'1 board. I mean, in my opinion, if you are making the transition to a short board and have some experience under your belt, just get the board you want to get good at. inevitably when you get a new board especially if its considerably shorter, your going to suck on it, but I think you really should plan to get a board you are going to be satisfied with in a year (if you dont break it of course). thats just my 2c
