Buying Shortboard for the First Time

Postby oceangrrl » Thu Jun 01, 2006 5:00 am

I've been riding a 7'6" mini mal for about a year and a half now and this summer, i'm buying a shortboard for the first time. The board I really want is an Al Merrick Flyer which i'll get from channel island surf shop. I'm 5'6" and 130 lbs. I was wondering what size i should get and what i should look for in the board since it's my first time buying a new shortboard. Thanks!

How well are you getting along with your 7'6"?

Just wondering... I've been deciding on what kind of shortboard i should get and then my friend suggested an Al Merrick Flyer... It's supposedly good for small surf... But would it be good for a first time shortboarder like me??

go to a local shaper. you have so many options in northern california. most shapers have boards similiar to the flyer and they will be cheaper.
