Hi,

Anyone have a Al Merrick Bobby quad in his quiver?
Bobby Quad

Want to buy one for small waves but they said the model is designed to be ridden 3” to 6” shorter and ¼” to 1/2” wider than your shortboard.
Use to surf a 5'8, that seems I have to buy a 5'2/5'5, seems very small no?

pick the board that fits your volume generally..

i pass up on boards that aren't in my length, volume range, eg always wanted the fever but wasn't keen on a 6'3 so never ridden one lol..
no patience to wait for custom

endup riding things like samplers and new flyers because the fat boi dims.

what interests you about the bobby

Thanks for your reply.
Just talk with my shaper and he's gonna make a copy of Bobby Quad, size 5'6. Board gonna be ready in 2 weeks.

Who's the shaper. be cool to see the final product.

TBH channel islands construction in PU is trash. but the designs are the best

I’n a fan of CI boards, have gone through several and have four in the rack. I have learned not to get ultra light glass, Standard glass dents like light glass by ither shapers, Bali foam is inferior to OZ or California and gun glass is the way to go if durability is any concern.

The lighter boards paddle awesomely though; just don’t hold up long.

You go 3" shorter if you want to have it perform the same as your shortboard, but that also means it will paddle and do everything the same. If you want a small wave option get it the size you are used to, the extra width, thickness and volume will greatly increase your wave count and fun in small waves. Do not go down in size.
