I weight 105 and I’m 5’8. I just got a brand new board and it’s 5’5” and 23.7 liters. It’s very easy to pop up on and lil difficult to do turns. Do you guys think it’s to big or is my ocd taking affect?

I din’t know about your OCD but if yiu have problems turning its you, not the board.
What exactly is the problem? What size are the fins? Do you have your back foot back over the fins? Do you catch the nose rails and bog out? How is your bottom turn? Are you moving fast enough on the wave? Does the board track straight lke its locked in abd you cant make the board turn?

Definitely not too big, work on your own turns, putting your hand in the water for bottom turns is what unlocked a lot of manoeuvres for me. Also, think foot placement, I naturally pop up with my foot just in front of my tail pad, which I use this position for pumping mainly, when I start to manoeuvre, even if it is just a really shallow bottom turn I put my back foot over my centre fin (on a thruster). This is the only way I can properly turn my board. Watch a really good longboarders and see them do really good turns, this shows it’s technique, and not the board.. especially not a 23 litre board. Hope this helps!

"I have a board, about 32 liters. It’s very hard for me to duck dive, any tips on how?"
"I was gonna get an 8 foot but I think 9 foot is better now. So I’m going to get a nine foot now."
"I have a mini gun, about 7 foot. "
You have 3 other boards with more volume and length than that 5'5" 23 liter board. If you can turn those (and charge 10 foot waves), how are you having a problem turning that shortboard ?

I could turn on them but the amount force I’m using is different. I meant that it felt harder to do than other boards I had. This is my first serious shortboard I didn’t want to mess up

"Mess up" what ?
The board itself by damaging it ?
Making a mistake in ordering the wrong dimensions on a custom board ?
I think you went too short too fast. Without knowing how to create momentum, that low volume boards can't keep planing and you sink the whole board, bury the rail or catch an edge.

Too small for your ability, use a larger one
