Has anyone surfed or have a v3 rocket?

Has anyone surfed or have a v3 rocket? I surf the US East Cost and looking for a travel board or even one to perform when the hurricane waves a pumping. I’m interest in the V3 rocket, but see many mixed reviews on what types of waves its surfed on and what heights! I currently have a puddle jumper and a psycho killer. Does the v3 fall in between those or above the PK? Thank for the input :woot:

I had one briefly; didn't care for it, rocker was too flat for the length and volume I had it in. I tried the board in the conditions I imagined and bought it for; I had wanted a stepdown board that would do better in waves less than head high. What I found was that even though the board should have fitted me in terms of volume as compared to other boards that I had but what I found was that I lost waves off minor mistakes too easily, and when I rode it in better waves where I had more push the board was too flat and tail too wide so it felt a little out of control as compared to my favorites.
My guess is that I probably needed more volume for the wave size that I wanted to ride the board in. Anyway, I found what I was looking for in a CI rocket wide which I have had in different incarnations for a few years now; took a lesson from the v3 and took a few more liters and that board works for me. I like the rocker and rails better as well and the board holds in bigger surf making it more versatalle meaning I ride it more. One downside is that the fishy tips of the tail are constantly getting chips and dings but that's on me and pretty normal for swallow tails. Rocket wide seems to fit better in waves here and is just more user friendly with bigger margins in most areas over the Lost; just clicked with it and was the opposite for the V3. After having one I get the reason they are popular; on my third one now.

I had 3 rocket wides and am on to my fourth lol.. for some reason I sell or damage lol.. first was too small by inch and volume. second was repaired when I brought for a wavepool in melbourne, third perfect but leash snapped and damaged on rocks then sold.. 4th one how about this takes the cake.. had shoulder surgery, first surf back on a hell windy day, dropped it cold on rocks.. has 4 dings now and i fixed it myself ugly as hell.. still goes hard though lol.. just looks a mess lol.. last one is square tail pu and i still have it..

i have v3 rocket at moment.. didn't by it for small waves bought it as a daily driver.. running am2s until I get the hang of it then Ill try 2 plus 1s, then quads..

whats best in a v3 rocket anyone know.. v3s futures boxes

Futures fins I use and like are fannings for control, blackstixs for smaller waves and generating speed, am2s fir everything in between and the standard go to.

As you have discovered, the rocket wide is a good board. ;)

Yeah the Rwide is steady, and safe.. I like it with the MR 2 plus 1s or Kolohe andinos if its bigger.. those andinos are mean fins.. What do you think of the 2 plus 1s from asher pacey, i picked some up cheap.. but I don't usually ride futures so i'm on the futures journey now..

Never tried the asher pacey fins. I have a couple sets of MR 2+1s and a set of futures T1 2+1’s. Rocket wide I currently have loaded with a set of Jim Banks modern keel type fins. The amount they extend rearward makes up some for the thruster fin placement and allows me to ride it as a twin w/o a trailer.

I have the power twins i think it is back home.. they are good without trailer.. go good on forehand.. those mr fins are onnnnnn.. how do you rate them compared with the t1s with the trailer in are they the same?

For me the MRs and T1s, both with trailers are pretty much the same, difference being fin system used. That was the idea when I got the t1s because I wanted the same as the MRs I had for a board that had futures boxes and the T1s were the popular suggestion for that from a few sources and turns out they were right.
