Hot surfers

What are the hot surfers at your local breaks pulling?
I just had a surf last night - 2ft, mushy, onshore, but a few sections and walls to work with so not too bad. This Brazillian guy Luciano was in the water and he was on fire! I was just paddling out and he screamed down the line generating speed out of nothing, pulled a fronside 360, almost without losing speed, pumped up some more for a BIG cutty, another 360, and then a fins out off the top to finish  ! And so it continued for the rest of his sesh. He was riding a really narrow 5'10" squash. It was so cool to see someone tear it up at my local break just like the tour guys :D .
My excuse of "nobody could pull those moves round here on our waves" no longer holds water so I'm just gonna have to get better  .

This is me last winter- http://www.eastcoastsurf.co.uk/Wipeout.WMV

This is Luciano last winter- http://www.eastcoastsurf.co.uk/SEA_Luciano.WMV

Spot the difference  .

actually that's a dumb question, ofcourse it is, how thick is the wet suit you wear in the winter? there, that is a better question.

Wetsuit? and the rest!

Wetsuit - 5/4/3mm
Boots - 5mm(after some 6mm ones for this winter tho!)
Gloves - 5mm
Hood - 2 or 3mm I think.
:(

Just had 2hr sesh in my 2/1mm shorty yesterday :D and only got cold last 30 mins but it was shite weather.
Certainly not looking forward to winter again :( .

Wish it was as simple as winter = waves, but last winter here sucked ass. Last summer was just as good as winter but warmer water! This summer has been total shite tho.
So a few mates and myself have decided to go on a serious surf trip somewhere november-ish time. The destination short list is Costa Rica, Mexico, Hawaii (not Oahu!), New Zealand, or Phillipines. Think I'm feeling Phillipines most cos its cheap as, goes off big time at that time of year and its gonna be a proper feral mission :D .

I've had nothing all summer

When the decent swells kick in soon (please, god, let the decent swells kick in soon) Im going to surf like such a muppet

The only progress Ive made this year is backwards, so (back to the original bit of the thread) it wont be me pulling 360 airs, it'll be me wondering where my paddlin' fitness has gone and why I cant catch waves anymore!

Roll on autumn - may the water stay warm, as the autumn sun shines, and those swells peel into deserted bays with gentle offshores.... :D

Would be quite funny as when you were here (which meant we could even have been within 10 mile radius of each other) never met you, but when you move to the other side of the planet...

in summer where i am, it's too hot for surfing, unless you stand in the water to stay cool. the temperature gets to 40 degrees sometimes. i went on a surfing road trip last summer and we went down the east coast, and when we were at the central coast of nsw, it was 46 degrees. i'll show youse a picture of where i mean. and here in winter, i can get away with 2 rashies, bikini and boardies, and that's before the sun is up!!!! how do you like that??? :D:D
