How difficult is it to manuever a true fish board? The ones with the deep swallow tail, real wide and small. How does it compare to the typical short board? Thanks.

My girlfriend is quiting. I am going to try to get better though. I deleted that thread on gulfsurfer. All I really want is a direct answer, and I feel if I ask on gulfsurfer, I just get bashed.

O ok.
I really like the way fish ride. Theyre really fast but not quite as manueverable as a normal shortboard, but you can still do cutbacks and stuff. And theyre good for texas because theyll catch any wave pretty much.

I have a fish and I hate it. I would say it is far more manouvreable than a short board, twitchy even. They are fast down the line ok, but they don't like long drawn out bottom turns ( and I do :( ). They are meant to be ridden always up on the wall of the wave and due to the tighter turning arc they can stay there better than a short board. Trouble is when the waves get bigger they skip around a bit cos the tail is so wide it won't bite into the water and I hate that!
Good experience to ride all sorts of boards but at the end of the day its all down to personal preference and your style of surfing.

I agree with everything Broosta says... but I love mine! :D

Twitchy as anything, and slide out from underneath you, but I like that
Awesomely manouevrable (sp?) in smaller waves, but turns into a bit of a handful on anything above chesthigh.

Its good for here because our waves arent big unless we get a hurricane. I love riding my fish, but i guess everyone likes something different.
