how long have you been surfing? could be a case of you just need to get used to how the new board works. maybe.

Try to look at your tecnuiqe http://www.surfbetter.com/html/contestfree.html

and perfect it if your still having problems start looking at your board dimensions and your weight/height, height seems to be okay 5"1 but how much do you weigh? also if its an old board mabye its damaged somwhere?

Na, ten foot...don't be a wuss, there is a particular gentleman who frequents this site who makes 21 foot wooden surfboards...Buy one of those suckers and your problems are solved. Way better than those wussy wee foam jobbies.
Besides, we'd all be able to fit on the board with you.

I'm definitely a newbie here, but it seems they're doing amazing things with surf board design these days to the point where shortboarders can ride longer short boards with no problem. I'm living in the southern beaches in sydney, my gf here (she's about 5'7") just got a new board her mate shaped for her as a gift (pretty nice gift I might add)- he made it 7'1", and she says it surfs just as easily/ smoothly as her old 6'4" board.. she's been surfing 15 years, so I'm inclined to believe her when she says it.
