Shortboard, to be repairs or not

Ok so my dad quit surfing about 6 years ago, I recently picked up his board and fell in love, it's a Tim Nolte 6' 2" shortboard, there's a few dings not bad but I'm a little scared about a specific area on the belly of the board, it looks like a ding spread open, I would like to know if this is a huge issue to the life of the board

It sounds like it would affect the life of the board if not fixed but it really depends on the materials the board is made from. It's very likely going to rapidly deteriorate if you get it wet without fixing it. The pictures are so out of focus they don't help much

Not sure from the blurry photos, but it seems just to be a old browning repair. The crisscross line are from the fiber cloth that was laminated in-correctly, floated to the surface and got sanded down. If you took it out already and found no salt crystal around the area later, it should be fine. If you're that worried, put a good sticker over it.

Sand it down ( hell, just use a file on that ) to you get under the crystal/ chunks of resin. Tape up to make a dam. Put some Suncure a little at a time, cure it in the sun, repeat, sand it just enough, better to have a bump than flush and weak.

Look like that's an old Balin leash cord. If there's just one swivel on one end, that boards 25+ years old.
