should i go with a BIC or an Isle Epoxy (funboard)?

Postby stardust » Fri Mar 25, 2005 2:37 am

hi everyone

i live in san diego, and i am trying to decide whether to go with a bic (plastic board - or what ever their material is) or should i go with an epoxy <edit>? Even though the bic is about 100 dollars cheapers than the epoxy. I want a fun board because i don't have the skill to surf on a short board at hard sport, and still want to be able to surf on not so good waves.

thanks

Bics are pieces of crap, the only good thing about them is theyre hard to break, but other then that, i would NEVER get one. Living in San Diego, you should have tons of options. Check and see what local shapers are around there, or order one from a reputable shaper.

Funboard, defiinitely...BICs are rubbish, and afunboard would allow you to progress as well, whereas on a BIC you would be finding it all easy but it would be hard to improve
But do whatever

BICS were crap, but now they're moulded differently (so if you wanna get one - get a new one, not second hand) and they're fine.
Yes, they are slow, they dont turn very well and they're kinda dull... but isnt that what a novice wants?

I've had one in my quiver for my girlfriend to use and she found it superb to learn on.
...But last weekend I moved her onto a funboard and it was a whole new level for her

BICs are fine first boards, and really easy to sell on once you've outgrown it 8)

Bic boards are ok they are not the best shapes but they are durable.

Isle boars are made in china by people who dont surf.

Get a deal direct from a local shaper in San Diego.

phase one boards

Postby steveinSD » Thu Apr 28, 2005 6:43 am

All the phase one boards are made local in san diego. All hand shape, no mass production. Local shapers and local glassing. I have 3 boards from them.
