What's the width/thickness/volume of the board? Is it a skinny old thing, or has it got some volume?

Well, that doesn't really make sense :?
The rocker doesn't make a huge difference to a duckdive, except perhaps as you paddle towards the wave it might slow you down. Once you're under the water, having some rocker makes it easier to duckdive as you scoop back up again on the far side of the wave.

At 45kg, you might struggle a bit at the moment, but yes, it should be possible if the board is quite skinny. And it will take a lot of practise, whatever you're riding and whatever your weight. Anyway, you'll soon get heavier

It's usually not the rocker but the size and the ability of the surfer, tell your friend to stop giving you advice
