If Burton is the "Louis Vuitton" of the snow boarding world, what brand would be considered the "Louis Vuitton" the surfing world or the short board surfing world? It may sound like a dumb question to some but others would like to know.

Easy one to answer, Al Merrick-Channel Islands surfboards. That's the brand that 11-time world champion Kelly Slater rides. ( or used to, now that he owns part of Firewire surfboards ). But funny that Burton is the "Louis-Vuitton" of snowboarding because Burton owns Channel Islands surfboards.

But what's better, a kook dropping in on his knees on his $700 Al Merrrick or a guy shredding on his Costco $125 wavestorm sponge board ?

Someone sold a board for a million dollars recently. I think he posts here.

Al Merrick is high end, but not highest. Takayama boards go for over a grand, even small ones.
