Jacksonville Surf vs. Central Florida

Postby RichD14 » Mon Nov 03, 2014 9:11 pm

Has anyone had any experience, or know anything about ho Jacksonville surf compares to Central Florida? I've spent a short amount of time in both places but not enough to get a good solid comparison. I'm talking consistency, size, and quality, as an overall surf spot.

Obviously New Smyrna Beach and Sebastian Inlet are going to be the best, but other than that, in general, how much of a difference is there?
I've seen both get good but it seems like Central FL picks up more swell. Also, how does Saint Augustine compare to these?

This is a look at Cocoa Beach / Satellite Beach on a North Ground swell with a moderate NE wind. I think I answered this before somewhere along the line. I will say it again. You can surf Cocoa Beach 365 Days a year. A particular sandbar breaks in every size of a swell. Any ?'s go to www.sonfollowersministry.com .

Warmer water during winter down in central Florida. Nsb inlet is supposed to be super consistent.

Jax is a lot cooler during the winter. Water temps in the low 50s last year. A few good jetties for north and south wind protection. A pier that offers a consistent wave most of the year at the right tide. North or south of jax has miles of open deserted beach breaks with some real gems for sand bars. Poles and pier are the go to spots and they get extremely crowded.
