3 days in San Clemente area - surf where?

I will be in the San Clemente/Dana point area the first week of June with my son. I plan on dawn patrolling each of the 3 days but I don't want to spend an hour or so spot checking. I am hoping the surf will be decent but will go out regardless of conditions. I would prefer a left and not a beach break and generally I will choose a spot with lesser quality of waves if it avoids big crowds. I will be down there during the week days on purpose to avoid some of the crowds & kids should be school. If you guys could recommend 2-3 spots I would appreciate. Again - dawn patrol, weekday, left & prefer NOT a beachy. I have spent hours reviewing breaks in that area on Surfline and others but hoping someone would local knowledge could advise better. Thanks !

Also if you're up for a drive, la jolla might be good,I know you want to stay away from beach breaks but Oceanside jetty is pretty sick.

Churches & Trestles won't be packed? I was hoping I could surf Trestles but figured the Trestles, San Onfroe area would be the busiest? Dawn patrol will be my only window for surfing - maybe 6:00-8:00 each day. How long is the drive to Oceanside from SC? My son will be with me, who does not surf so I want to eliminate the driving to spot check as much as possible. Being from HI, I hate the cold water up here in Santa Cruz. Looking forward to the warmer water more than the waves to be honest - which if you know what's the water temp it that area?

Lol I just moved here from Hawaii too, but it doesn't really get much better, it's about a half hour drive to get to Oceanside, honestly the best swells for the area your coming to are south swells naturally, churches doesn't get too packed until around 8 or 9. If you want spot me an e-mail! Pandarturo1288@gmail

Sorry I missed your time window. PM me next time. It's hard to avoid the Trestles area if you don't want to surf a beach break. That being said it's still possible to find some not as crowded spots.

As I'm sure you know tide, wind and swell direction come into play re: spot selection. All of Trestles area from Cottons to Church react differently to the conditions.

Hope you had a nice stay and scored some fun.

Good ol' work called on my scheduled out of town surf safari so I never made it. Good news is my son is off visiting his mom for the summer so I am planning on a late July trip south. Without my son, it will be nothing but surfing and back to the hotel room to take the dog walking. Appreciate the feedback and will definetely heed your advice
