hey Guys,

i am thinking of getting a quad fish 5'9 from seaflight.
Seaflight designes kite surfboards. The board I was looking at is about 5,9 long, 19 wide and 2 1/2 thick.

Has anyone experience with such boards?
are they good surfable without a kite? or are they crappyer without a kite than a normal fish?

My alternative for the fish would be a 6'4'' roundtail shortboard (for bigger waves)

thanks for your answers,
Tobikey

Can't really add much to answer your question - since I've never surfed a kiteboard with or without kite... BUT that board in the pic looks like a very retro surfboard design - quite similar to the early 1980s boards that turn up occasionally around where I surf (narrowish nose, pretty wide overall and max width a little toward the tail with a swallow tail).

Also, how old is the board? It looks pretty well aged in the photos you posted - are you sure it's a kiteboard?

Maybe see if you can get a demo on it?

My question is, however, why not just get the more conventional shortboard?

I don't believe that anyone has ever kitesurfed with that board as there are no pressure dents on the deck. Kitesurfing exerts way more pressure on the deck of a surfboard than surfing resulting in big heel sized pressure dents of upto 10mm depth. I can not see any on that board. I have to agree with Jimi on the origons of the board.
Oh and it looks great too and probably would make a good kiteboard.
