Hi Guys,
Whats everyone's thoughts on this board?
I've recently just got a 5'10 second hand, only used it once it headhigh mellow waves and loved it.
Just wondering if it was the right board to take with my to Indo for 6 weeks? love the tail but the flat rocker is a bit of a 50/50 with me if it gets big (which it probably will)!
this is also my first time going to Indo so I have no idea what to expect waves wise! I am an average surfer (wont be surfing anything above 5-6ft out there)
to Anyone with Indo experience I would appreciate advice.
Cheers dudes!

Heaps of Indo information in the travel section and in the surf spots section, depending on where you plan to go will give us some idea of what to,advise you , a broad spectrum of waves awaits you.
Also when do you plan to go?

sorry forgot to mention that haha I'm planning on doing Bali/Lombok and possibly Java going from the 8th July - 18th August so I presume that's peak season.
I can't freaking wait!!
I sort of have a rough idea of the breaks etc, was just wondering if the Hypto Krypto would be alright in the faster waves over there? or if you would recommend me biting the bullet and getting something a little more suited for over there?
was kind of an impulse buy...huge impulse buy even.
Cheers

If you can ride your Hypto Krypto fairly well here and you can generate speed on it then, no problems, you are there during peak season and the surf will challenge and reward you.
Since it is a short board consider taking another slightly longer and more drawn out line that you know is a speed machine.
Have a look at Outer Island surfboards or Jim Banks surfboards as they are both Indonesian specialists.
However you go and whatever you ride you will come back a better surfer.

I am going to Nicaragaua and I am not taking my shortest board. I am taking my 6'5 which is like a mini stepup and my 6'8 stepup. I learned from surfing baja that I need a little more board to get into the big beefy waves. For example, with my 6'1, I would catch probably 5 waves during a session, compared to a dozen with my stepup's. So, go bigger, you won't regret it.

Cheers guys, Think ill take my hypto then look at getting a step-up when i'm over there (hopefully ill be able to afford one by then!), from experience are boards cheaper in bali than elsewhere? and are the shops well stocked? last thing I want to do is get there and find that i'm stuck with a board which I'm struggling on!
Cheers guys the help is much appreciated!

There are a lot of shops selling the generic brands there and the pricing not sure anymore,, but if you get the book "Indo Surf and Lingo" by Peter Neely before you go get the latest copy.
I recommend it, has basic Bahasa Indonesian language ( helps greatly) travel tips and vouchers for discounts and how to buy barter and relate to people.
Also most of the surf companies have a service where you can order your custom or otherwise board and have it ready for pick up in Bali and this is done online.
The other place to check out new and secondhand surfboards is Poppies Lane, check Indo Dreams and The Boardshop.

I've lived in Bali for almost 4 years now. Trust me, that board will rip here.
