Future fins suggestions

So I just picked up a board from a neighbor, got a steal on it. However, it comes with Future fins. Right now it has FAM fins, al merricks, which I don't like because of the extra hold, I like them to glide and slide a little easier. On FCS I like PC5's and DHD hexcore, not idea on futures.

Can you suggest what other future fins to get? How are the TP1 Timmy Patterson fins (saw them online)?

I use am2, jordy Smith's, and rgmb2. I also have some Eric arakawa and f4 fins in the plastic variety. If your looking for something without too much toe I would suggest the jordy in a medium. The largess have a TON of hold its a huge fin.

I got some cheap size 5 generics, will start with those and buy others little by little. If others have a preference please post. I'm 200lbs and the board is 7'4 minigu, looking for the most glide but decent hold.

At 200lbs you will lose drive with the medium fins. Go with the large Jordy or Pancho fins.

Do any of your surf shops have a 'fin test centre' - some in Australia do (at least for FCS fins, I dont use Futures so havent checked). Anyway, you pay a small fee/deposit and try out and usually, if you buy, the fee comes of the purchase price.

I had a set of pancho fins, they seemed way too "draggy", same with size 7 FCS, so I have been using size 5 and mediums size variation even with my gun. The only exception is GAM fins which have great hold but still lots of glide.

I haven't tried Jordy fins since FCS doesn't make them, I'll try those next

Do futures make anything like the MR-TFX PC Rainbow?

http://www.surfstitch.com/eu/en/product ... 221100RMLT

Large side fins and small centre fin - sort of twin fin but not quite. Anyway, when I bought my last fins the guy at the shop was trying to convince me these were the fins for my 7ft4 board and gave great drive. But I went with something else so have no experience. However, they might be less 'draggy' - although they are pretty big (over 5inch for the side fins), which is about 1/2inch longer than size 7 FCS.

I went with the MF-1 fins, but I am after drive mostly (speed) - I figure that once I have speed I can do the other stuff, but am not good enough to generate speed myself. Also am up around 185lb and on a large board, so need a bit more hold than an M-5. Great fins the MF-1, but again not sure if Futures have a version.

(not a particularly useful post! Recommending FCS fins...)

LOL, which is why I posted, I'm an FCS guy myself. I use the MR combo on my fish only, I like the big sides and small center (quads), it has enough hod and glide to make it fun.

On your comment on drive, I thought drive was the ability to maintain or build speed, but thought the idea of bigger is better to gain speed was for longboards. I maintain and create peed with smaller fins because of less drag, and feel that bigger fins slow me down. I might be thinking wrong, but...

I'm always in search of the perfect set up, with fins that are small enough feel fast but big enough to have hold and not loose the tail on the wall and curl. Fins I have tried that let me down because not enough or too much hold: K3's, Panchos, YU's, Sunny Carbon, GRX, Simon M & L, AM, AM2, GPR. Fins I love and use: PC5, PG5, DHD Core, GX5, GMB's. For Fishes twin fins I use FK2 fiberglass, quads I use either MRX quad or M7 with GX center combo.

So, yea, I have no idea what I'm doing in Futures.

Here is the fish with the MR2 quad set up. It was a big mushy day, perfect for a small fish.
