Banzai Pipeline pushing the limits

Postby mick_peterson » Wed Oct 24, 2012 9:12 am

Out of curiosity im trying to push my shortboard to the limit. Its a 5'9 semi pro 18 1/4 2 1/4. Do you think it will handle the drop at 12-15 ft pipeline? Theres a new swell coming probably around this size and im not sure I generally surf it at 8-12 ft pipe and it handles. It is not a pin tail but a squash (not much of a difference at this size) and I use it as a quad for the extra speed and stability. While I am not scared to test it at this size I just dont want to ruin a board that also happens to be signed by kelly slater. Thx appreciate the feedback...

Had it not been signed by kelly slater than i would have said no. But as it has i expect you could take it out at 30ft jaws.
I suspect you are better qualified than any of us one here to answer that question, but you may get some help.

Depends, if really steep I would not use a quad, but if you got fun peeling waves I would try it.
