wanting to get away from the fish scene

So i did alot of research on your forum and didn't quite find what i'm looking for sorry if i didn't try hard enough. I've been surfing for about 2 years. My roomates were total surf rats and got me turned on to it and they have pushed me to progress rapidly. I've surfed alot of big stuff in oregon on my 6'8 fish fine but now i'm moving. I'm hopefully going to southern cali like LA or San diego...possibly guam or puerto rico. Before i move i'd like to get a more traditional shortboard shape and away from the fish. My current fish is 6'8 20ish"x2.75ish i surf it just fine but it can be a slow paddel out on big days seeing how you can't duck it that well. I weigh 170 and i am 6'1. I was looking at a lost sdii or something along those lines. What do you all think? I'm not gonna drop the cash on a custom shaped board i'm content surfing pop outs. I dig quads alot but thrusters fine. I'm looking for a board thats good for a knee to head high wave. It's gotta have room for me to grow as well i wana start holding floaters longers and doing faster cutbacks. If i buy a lost board i get good chunk of the price knocked off too so i'm really looking at those shapes more than other brands. Like i said i dig the sdii, the sub scorcher looks fun but idk how well it'll do in head high surf same with the v2 looks fun but idk how well it'll do in head high.
