7s superfish xl poly vs epoxy

I have an 8ft 7s superfish poly that I'm learning on. I'm making amazing progress but the board cracks or dings every session. I am now becoming better at board repair than surfing. I am considering buying a stronger board until I get better. I'm wondering if I should go for an NSP 7'10 and just sell it when I can control the board a bit more and have stopped wiping out as frequently or buy the epoxy version of the same board since its such an easy fun board to ride. My other option is to go down to a 7'3" epoxy superfish xl. I myself am 6ft 7in and 240 lbs. The superfish xl is on sale right now because they are close to releasing next year's board which will have a double concave. The current board is single concave. IF I buy another board I will not be able to afford a third board without selling and I'd prefer to eiher have a board that I can sell easily after getting time out of it or one that will last a a really long time. Suggestions welcome. This is frustrating. By the time I'm done with this poly board I doubt that I'll get much for it so I must be able to sell the other.

by the way i expect i might get some heat for this thread but i simply can't afford to buy boards to destroy them. please have some mercy in you comments. i was also thinking of buying a 9ft walden mega magic and using that for a while but that's another expensive board and it would stretch me.

Hi dirty Weasel, I know the shaper that originally made the the 7S boards the originals were good, some of the glassing coming out of Asia is terrible on lots of brands, I'd look again at the 7s but in epoxy this time but you are right at the limit of weight for the 7' 3" maybe stick with an epoxy 8', is that model on a run out sale too, if you have been riding the 7S the NSP will feel like a step backwards, both the NSP and the Walden mega Magic are GSI boards and they too are made in Asia, so once again check the rails and foam quality.
BTW ring GSI wherever you are and give them feedback.
Hardly anyone rings the company and says the true they just write them off and go elsewhere, enough feedback and things will be improved.
Quite a few importers of boards from Asia looking for quick buck, have gone to the wall by ignoring feedback and getting a bad rep.
I'm of similar weight o you I ride as my short board an 8' Surftech G&S Magic Fish it's epoxy it floats me like my longboard and performs really well.

thanks for the reply jaffa. i will let them know. A lot of the proplem seems to be in the tail which crunches up and I think that the board generally needs another layer of glass. The only thing that makes me skeptical is that while I understand that the epoxy would be stronger I'm not sure that the board would be put together any better. But I am really loyal to this shape now.

You could contact a shaper and get one made in a similar shape with as much glass as you want ;p
