JS Vs. Channel Islands

Hey,

Im looking into buying a JS Combat 2/Flyboy or a Channel Islands Flyer. I need an all around good board, surfing waves anywhere from waist high to overhead+. I'm an intermediate surfer; height 6'2 roughly 175 lbs. I surf up and down the California coast, and i heard somewhere that JS is better in tropical water, which affects my decision because I surf in below 60 degree water half of the year.

ANyways, I was looking for what dimensions I needed, I think 6'1x19x2 3/8 was what CI gave me for specs for the Flyer. I noticed that neither the Combat nor the Flyboy had much in the 19x2 3/8 region.. and was worried that 18 3/4s x 2 3/4 would be too small.

Thanks for the help, appreciate it

I have had a 6'1" Flyer and it is a great board for small to med sized waves. It is super fast and loose and will even work well on small mush waves, due to the wider tail it comes to life quickly. It will handle some size, but is not a big wave board. It is a great all around board and should handle the size waves you mentioned fine.
