Hey im from MD..im 6'1 and 170.. i just got a wrv 6'4 slayer that is pretty decent. really easy to get up and it a perfect board to learn how to do frontside and backside turns. Im already contemplating a new board though something a little smaller and not as thick so on the bigger days i can rip a little better. I'm an intermediate surfer and so far my options are between CI fred rubble, CI cheese stick, CI Whip, CI flyer, or any firewire (i'm not to educated on them but it seems like a good amount of guys in MD have been riding these)

What are the dimms of your current board? To me it sounds like any reduction in length/ volume will just affect your wave-count without really providing a huge bonus.

How big waves are you talking? For big big waves, you need to be increasing your length, not shortening it.

I would stick with your current one, it is plenty small enough. You could ride a toothpick but I don't think it would be worth the loss of wave catching ability.

the only problem with my slayer now is that it is fairly bulky which can be good...but it sometimes lags on turns (especially frontside) and im not advanced enough for airs but i question how it will hold when i get around to that
