Hello,
From what you described, I would get a good fish. I have one and it works great on small to med sized mushy waves. With the wide outline you can get planning on top of the water very quickly, get lots of speed, and do lots of turns. They make surfing small waves fun again. If you are looking for shortboard characteristics but need something to keep you moving through the mushy small waves the fish is for you. Your fish can be about 2-6" shorter than your regular high performance shortboard. I do see lots of guys into fishes, but they get them to big and then they do not get the performance they were looking for. If you can try some different fishes out before you buy one you will be able to make a good decision.
