Hey everyone, I'm Adam.
This is my first post, this site looks like it has a pretty cool community; and it's surfing, so I couldn't resist.

Alright, I live in South FL.. we haven't gotten many waves in a while, but I'm getting knowledge online in the meantime.
I can already stand up on the board, I've been surfing around 6 months, and I've gone surfing maybe 7-9xs.
What are the next tricks I should learn on a 6'3 shortboard-hybrid?
Keep in mind the waves are pretty small here.

I've read that I should first learn to bottom turn and cutback first?
Give me your stories from when you began and some personal tips.

Thanks!
- Adam

bottom turns first, front and backside, then everything will follow.

i would say first learn how to pump for speed, bottom turn, frontside and backside snap, and then concur the air!

your board shouldn't dictate the tricks you can do, + ur light so i think surfing will be easier to learn. make sure u have the right size fins for your body weight. also u should know the rules by now, and don't be a little punk who dosn't respect the elders. just be respectful and have fun, but dont piss off the older guys. the rest is practice

Top to Bottom, Top to Bottom, over and over again. When your balance develops and you get the feel for it, your trick progression will come naturally.

Learn how to pump for speed, until you find yourself getting out in front of the wave too far. Then it's time to slow it up and start playing with the lip!
