Protecting valubles while surfing?

Postby Newbloke » Tue Sep 21, 2010 2:06 pm

Hey guys, just wondering, how do you all protect your valubles while surfing at the beach?
Because I need to drive to the beach, I gotta bring my car keys, wallet and phone most of the time and am worried some idiot will grab my stuff while I'm out in the surf.

So how do you guys go about this? A friend said to bury your stuff in the sand but what happens when you forget where you buried you stuff after? haha. Cheers.

I personally just leave them in my car and trust the car guard and take the key with me (i've even left the key with the guards before) :\

Key pocket in wetsuit and leave stuff locked in boot is what I do... The car guards and shops also handy for keeping keys, but prefer to keep them on me or at shops if they open...

haha nah mate, Think I can take that and handle the waves.
Although I must say after a weeks thought I had a good idea.
Take the eletronic key and get a normal metal one made and keep that!

Well you also could go to the lifeguards who are on duty and ask them if they could watch your stuff or if they know any place to keep your valuables!!

Cheers

I use a waterproof case

You can get some really good ones, pretty cheap. And if you need to protect something that could get broken, for a little extra, you can get padded ones which stop any damage.

I used a waterproof bag on a trip once... worked perfect... took my keys, cash, Id, and cards in it... put it in my boardshorts pocket and used the little wax comb bungie as a backup to hold it in there...it's awesome and perfect when traveling too.

First thing: DON'T BURRY IT IN THE SAND!!!
I'm not saying that you will directly forget where you burried it, but it will happen, I can tell!

I would say that you should just leave your phone and wallet in the car...
You can put your key on a string around your neck and put it in your wetsuite. Maybe in a water-prooved small case...

cant believe you guys have CAR GUARDS
saaaay what

if you take your keys in the water surfing, make sure it is ATTACHED. Was surfing once and this guy was trying to find his keys for 2 1/2 hours... I'm like mate they're gone but eventually stepped on them when I walked in from my session.
if your wetsuit has a key loop= use it!!

car guards....

It's South Africa. Lots of people are car guards just because it's something job-like to do versus having no job whatsoever. Jeez, losing your key in the water would SUCK big time especially if you decided to do a lonewolf mission at a spot with no stores and restaurants around :P

Hi , we are a start up Company down in Cornwall who are on the verge of launching a new product that will help protect you car keys whilst getting wet. Check it out @ http://www.keebunga.com. Hope no one minds me plugging this but we have'nt started trading yet.

We have entered a business Comp with Barclays in the hope of getting the last bit of cash needed for launch. https://www.takeonesmallstep.co.uk/Entry/Detail/516 . Any support would be ACE.

Most leashes have a key pocket, but not for electronic keys

I just use a waterproof electronic key pocket. Cost £3.99 and I can just secure it to the key tie in the wetsuit (or failing that just shove it in my shorts pocket before I put it on). Best surf related purchase ever, Northcore I think it was.

Y'all are making this way too complicated......just put your keys in your gas tank cover or in your truck bed under some shirt or in your icechest or in a magnetic key holder you put in your wheel well......dont take your keys in the water, the salt water will still be on the key and it'll rust out your locking mechanism over time

Get a small gnarly mexican dog able to survive the car heat while you are surfing.
