Surfing Waves

So im tossed between a 6' 3" Webber minifish and a 6'0" quad fish ( made by a local shaper).
I surf in central Florida so its a lot of mushy bull waves. I have a 6'0 retro twin but the thing is old and heavy as all hell.
Im 6' and weigh roughly 175 lbs, I am still a beginner when it comes to short boards and just want to get an idea of what the major differences I am looking at between these boards If any?

you want that 6'3 i would say in my opinion. it has a wider tail and its taller. a wider tail keeps speed and float. but i love the 6'0 color

I'm guessing you are buying it for small waves, not as a primary shortboard.

Small waves demand a big board. Both "should" be fine for your size (very similar weight and height to me) but the bigger Webber WILL be an easier board to ride and catch small waves on. You can catch them earlier and it will be more forgiving to ride (thrusters are much more stable than quads too). The only downside is you can forget about duckdiving with it - but the 6'0 may not be much easier to duckdive depending on the width and thickness.

I got a 6'1x20something x 2" 7/8... I find it is probably a little bit big for me, but it's great in waves under shoulder high, especially if they aren't too steep.

And yea Its for the mushy summer waves here. I sold my long board today but still wanted something consistent in smaller waves.

Hi, the Webber Mini Fish isn't for beginners. I've read a few independent reviews and it's for guys with a fair bit of experience. The GSI website even says intermediate to advanced.

I got the MiniFish and wow is this a fun board. I'll let you know how it is in bigger surf ( we are supposed to get a great swell this week) but so far between 1-3' waves this thing is amazing. Its light, fast and catches everything.
