how do you stick your board in the sand nose first so that it stays up. it's good for keeping the wax from melting and also from sticking to sand.

best to practice at home where nobody is watching, if no sand at home, stick it up your bum, same action, same affect :yearght:

you put it fins facing toward the ocean, with the bottem of the board facing the ocean. doing this may make you look cool, but check out your nose afterwords, your basically stabing the sand, it can cause seroius damage. try using ur board instaed of putting it in the sand to do your stretches before you get out, for example a squat to strech your calfs and hamstrings is easily done with your board on its side and you holding it for support.

instead of stabbing your board into the sand, kick a little sand mount with your feet, and then place your board's nose on top of it. Your wax won't melt, and sand won't stick.

You hold it really high and with all your might thrust it into the sand, this works specially good in a pebble beach and even better on lava rock.
If it won't stay up grab a mallet and wack it a couple of times on the nosse

thanks everyone. also, i'm not doing it to look cool, i just see a lot of people doing it and it looked like a good way to keep wax from melting and sand free while i stretch. i've had people come up to me and ask why i'm stretching for 2 footers and i say an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of the cure. i've dislocated my shoulder a couple of times, and sprained a rib...

Ok, if that is your question, let me give you the RIGHT answer: Always, Always, put your board down face down, especially on hard surfaces like streets or sidewalks.

There are two reasons for this, 1) The sun beats on the bottom that has no wax on it, won't melt even if you take the time to stretch and 2) if you damage your board, you will only damage the nose or tail, which will have almost no effect on your board performance, damaging the bottom or the fins might/will have an effect on they way your board performs.

thanks again everyone for the posts. @themathteacher: i put my board face down on everywhere except sand. usually some bushes or grass if i'm lucky. i guess it probably seems disrespectful and kooky to some to potentially damage your board by jamming it into the sand, but i see it done so often that i figured there's a right way to do it safely. You guys are all missing the point on this to insure good wax and no sand...

After stabbing board into the sand with all your might you raise one leg onto your board and declare to the beach that "He who pulls the board from the sand will be the one true king" and walk off into the water to fade away.
