I surf all over long island and I am trying to decide between the following boards: from Lost, the F! and SDIII, from Channel Islands, the proton, and the rookie, and from rusty the Bat tailed quad or the redline. just want some input and opinions for what board i should get. i am 5'7" 170 built like a full back. i am an intermediate that is quickly progressing and looking for a board hat i can eventually learn some airs on and fully develop my skills. i drive off the front and turn of the back and am a more smooth power surfer. i already have a 6'4" kg fish but it cant do much more than a floater on good waves.

I'm 200lbs and built like and old guy, but mostly muscle. I have a 6'1" fish and my transition shortboard is a 6'5 x 19.5 x 2.5 thruster with a thumb nail. I also just recently got a 6'2 squash with the same dims and like that too, but the 6'5 seems better for my weight.

For your weight you could go as low as 6'2, but I would start with a 6'5 with my dims or slightly thinner or narrower (not both). Also, the squash seems more performance but the round tail easier to slot in, so if you are looking for a looser feel try the squash tail.

oh, one more thing, if you want to get air you need a lighter board, the 6'2 has been more fun but the 6'5 I catch more rides.

First I would start with your height. If your 5'7" then go 1-4inches above your height. Im 5'9" 170lbs and a 6ft feels perfect stance wise for me and natural. 6'2"+ boards are to long I end up standing really wide sumo style and I have to slide my feet around way to much to hit the sweet spot at times and your shorter then me. Have you considered the Lost SDII? I think it would fit your frame a bit better. We weigh the same, but if I was your height I think I would be on a 5'10" x 19 x 2 3/8. I rather get some float back from the width then length. I also ride a lost rocket and its a fun/fast board to really throw around in smaller surf. Its my favorite at the moment. Just some thoughts
