Hey, does anyone have experience on this board? I'm thinking about getting one, but have not heard a whole lot about it. Currently I ride a 6'8 Flyer and have been for the past 2 years. Looking to go to about a 5'8 with the Whip. I am 5'8 and about 135-140. Any other suggestions are welcome as well. Normal Oregon swell is about knee to waist high, and chest on a good day. Can get to overhead over the winter.

I know this is an older post, but I see no replies, and I have had some experiences with the whip. CI did board demos here in HB, and my friends and I demo'd quite a few boards. We all enjoyed riding the various sizes of the whip. One thing I will say is that the whip makes good use of the space of the board, making it possible to ride smaller boards. I'm 5'9 and 170lbs, and I rode a 6'1, a 5'8, and a 5'4. They even had a 5'2 that I probably could have caught waves on. The smaller bards were much more fun. The 6'1 seemed slow and sluggish to turn. The 5'8 was much better. For your size, the 5'8 should be more than enough... it should be a good solid board for almost any size wave.

Yeah, been thinking of trying a board like that, my shaper is all into that right now, just haven't pulled the trigger.
My shaper usually rides a 5'10" shortie, he took the same concept and made himself a 5'3" like the whip and totally loves it, wants me to go down on mine too, just not sure if I'm too old to try something new, I kinda got my quiver wired...

I am thinking about a whip too. CI's site guides u to take this model 3-4inch shorter than your normal short board. As I am currently riding a 6'1'' X 18 5/8'' X 2 1/4 M4 and am looking for something with somewhat higher volume, I've been thinking of taking a 6.0 Whip. Any ideas if it would be too big (I am ~180lbs) ??

I just had a fish biscuit made, it's 6'1 x 20 1/2 x 2 1/2 and even that feels beefy, even at my 200LBS. See my other thread, it's the white one:
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=14067After taking it for a spin I realize that I could have gone smaller, not sure if comoftably, but I could definitely could have gone thinner/narrower.
However, I have to say that 6'1x 18 5/8 x 2 1/4 seems a little small for your 180lbs, you might want to just try a slightly beefier board, like 18 3/4 to 19" and 2 3/8" thick

got a 6'1 whip after the flyer snapped on a heavy day, and the whip's been a better board - looser with more drive. - recommended. I'm 5'10 about 185 lbs.
