buying a short board

iam a beginner been surfing longboard (mal,epoxy) for a while am 6 " 65 kg looking to get on a shortboerd what size should i go for looking at a 2nd hand miller waterskate 6 9" or a mr supertwin fish 6 4" both are in my price range and looking to have fun but also progress iam in good shape but never surf a shortboard before anyone help?

as a bit of general advice, get something with 3 fins. A twin is not really a beginner prospect.

Also, Only you can decide what size board you are capable of riding. Both of them are within the size you "could" ride, but whether you are up to it is another story. Try to borrow a mate's board about the 6'4 size, and give it a go. If it's not to your liking, then get the 6'9, and it should do you nicely.

id agree that a twin fin is probably not a a good board to move onto after a longboard. a fairly thick thruster should probably be what you want to look for. maybe go to a shop that will let you try out some boards to see what dimentions you can get away with going down to. theres nothing like bying a new board and swiftly realising you cant surf it. you will progress much faster on a board that you can comfortably catch waves than on one you have to work too hard before you even get up. if you are looking for a brand new board the best bet would be to talk to a local shaper as they will be able to give you some inight into what kind of dimentions you need. (as long as you are honest about your size weight and ability). more sensible would be a used board.

sweet was looking to get a little more movement on the wave was looking at second hand boards and with in my price range was the 6"4 mr supertwin x 19 1/2x2 5/8 or the miller waterskate 6 9" 21 5/8 x 2 3/4 this i heard paddle like a mal but moved loosely as a short board its short but still has the volume another which i dont know is watercooled thruster 6 10" waiting for dimensions iam 6"-6"1 and 65kg iam going to phuket for a while then sri lanka and then india and want to have fun as welll as work on my skill and movement

i have not surfed as much as i ashould since i have had an accident and broke my ankle iam goofy footed and the ankle i broke was my left but it has had a log time to heal now good couple of years but it was a realy bad break also split my heal bone
