When ya get a ton of sand, rock etc. Or when it's old, realy old and Your sliping off. I usally strip it off after it's gone from bumps to cake frosting smooth. I'll wax comb and apply new each time I go till it's finaly smeared out or feel I've added to much weight.

When I use a wax for warmer water, the wax just smears smooth on application.

I use the same technique on cold water stuff and get nice pebble dash type bumps! Does warmer water wax do that?

Yes... takes more practice and works better when it's colder outside, once ya get the start (first coat) apply less presure and let the existing wax keep picking up new goo as you rub it around, keep in mind if it gets warm it'll just smear. So cold hard wax and cooler dawn or night tempatures help.

6 Boards out there and last time one got a wax change was when the wax melted in the car! Some of the boards are over 2 yrs old too! Then again some of them are possibly only watertight and held together by the wax!

I have 8 boards, I only take off the wax when it gets hugely thick and ugly, probably every other year.
