So Cal Shops (around OC)

Lookin for a new board but I'm broke.

So I want to diversify my quiver and go a bit wider and more foam all around. The obvious answer is the Flyer. I'm riding an MX 6'2; 18.5; 2-1/4. I was thinking going 19.5; 2-1/2 with a fat nose and tail was the way to go.

Any recommendations on some good local shops in the OC? I'd drive as far up as L.A. and south to Oceanside. The best price I'm seeing is the Becker Hornet for $395. I almost certainly prefer to go new rather than used.

Thanks for the advice, surferdude ... I used to buy custom when I was younger. But really, I'm not good enough to tell the difference. I'm good with off the rack so long as it is in the general vicinity of the specs I was looking for.

Thanks pk and I totally agree on Jacks ... the folks there just don't know anything about surfing. The HB shop is not as bad but the Newport one is ridiculous. I've had good experiences at HSS at their HB shop though.

Surfside huh? Ok cool I'll check that out next time I'm down there. Thanks bro.

Thanks for the advice guys.

codyguy, check out Froghouse closer to Newport on PCH. They've got a decent selection and priced pretty good.

To save some money and still get a great board, you can try Stoked Surfboards which just changed names to Degree33. I have several of their boards and both Luc and Holly surf and are awesome. They are between SD and Oceanside.
