Hi guys, I'm not entirely new to surfing but I haven't had a surfboard long enough to know it back to front.
So anyway, I'm going to buy a short board of a friend of mine and I was wondering what I should look at (before I buy it) to make sure it's in good condition (besides the obvious dents and scratches).
Thanks
Brundo

Don't buy it. Get yourself a bigger board you'll learn much quicker and your surfing will be better for it.

I've already said that I DO have some experience with a surfboard, I'm not a total beginner. Also I DON'T have many large wads of cash to spend, so I can't just go around buying longboards and shortboards all day.

Fins!!! box, plugs, glass on dosent matter make sure they are solid no major cracks, dets, chinger's etc leash plug strip all wax off and clead real good look at it in diff light (dirrect/indirect) to spot any prob's normal wear and tear is to be expected(and since your not a total newbie) you should know that allready outher than that overall make sure it's water tight and if it's not it is worth the repair cost. You should allso know just anouther stick don't mean squat if it dosent suit you so if this one does and it checks out snag it and have fun. Good luck.

Look for full rails, 6'5" or longer, wide center, and a thickness 2.75 or thicker, not a lot of rocker. this is the type of shortie to start with, you will catch more waves and transition toward a more performance shortie.
keep the stoke.
