this is one problem that i have now... when the conditions are good i find myself going on the face of a wave and maybe even up and over sometimes. :D So.. if you lean on your inside you go up.... but while you are on the face if you lean on the backside you jsut fall off.. so how would i go back down? do i have to whip the board around?

Er... you dont fall off, thats the trick

Dont aggressively push the rails down, just turn towards where you want to go with your knees bent, and your weight distribution will do the rest. Point your leading arm (your left if you're natural) where you want to go to start with.

Then bottom turn... come back up the wave... repeat 8)

Oh, and put most of the weight through the back foot.

Yeah, try to get the harsh cut back image out of your head.. hehe. I run into that a lot; my mind will be picturing much more than my skill can back up at this early in the game. hah. Just ease your weight the way you want to go, keep weight back a bit because as you start heading down the face, you don't want to see that nose dip under.. :)

oh! i understand now how it works... because i was thinking that if the rail is the thing thats holding me up on the wave if i lean on my backside then the rail falls off and i fall off.. so what you guys are saying is turn the board. :)

I think you need some skateboard time. (with all the proper safety gear of course)

well you're right there's no substitute for surfing. but it may help to find a skate park or ramp that puts you at the similar angle, so you can get familiar with the feel.

heh that's weird, since going down the face felt natural. Just look where you want to go and apply pressure to your front foot. Guessing your getting the hang of pumping for speed.

Put pressure on your tail pad TOWARDS the face. That's what I think helps a lot.

Oh, and find a better spot with bigger waves. Don't surf those mushy closeouts in your videos unless you want to turn and pump like a falcon. It is feasible to learn on them, but you'll have a real tough time once you start surfing overheads.
