Hey guys I got a question on pulling those tight round house arcs the pros do. Today I seem to have gotten the hang of doing it front side by opening my shoulders and looking to where I want to go. I was wondering how you do you completely put your arm into the water like some people do?

Love doing roundhouses... Sometimes I have to tell myself to do something else. Its just so natural.
When your really into a proper roundhouse your body should be leaning over a fair way... Putting your arm in the water is like a pivot point.
Its not like your bending over just to put your arm in the water.. Its a sweeping power turn, using your arm as the centre point once your leaning into the arc your going to take.

So you lean back with one arm submerged and sweep your board in those solid arcs? Seems kind of complicated wouldn't you just sink headfirst from that arm being the pivot point.

Not if you have enough speed.

been surfing every other day and it seems to really improve my ability out there. I can do roundhouse cutbacks not involving my arm and it seems really fun.

It's all about centrifical (sp?) force.

It should be a similar action as a backside bottom turn except you start it going up along the face on a frontside wave. Lean on your heel and swing your shoulders into the direction you are facing with your leading arm as the pivot point. Saying that my frontside cutbacks aren't very stylish either as I'm never fully caning it when I do one.
