help with a new board

i'm 5'9" weigh bout 155lbs i skate and do alot of park snowboarding. I'm lookin for a board that'll let me ride like a skatestyle, and i'm plannin on surfing in long island NY. wat board would b dope to ride?

longboard....but if you cant afford or just want to have a hard time learning.shortboard.skating n snowboarding might help with the balance but other than that totaly different...

yeahhhhh so was i when i got my board.money sucks.try to find second hand boards.try to find one thats not too dinged up.and if they try to sell it to you with a free coat of wax run away. but yeah examine the board.

you should check at a surf shop, the shaper will know.im 5'11 135lb to140lb i have a 6'2.. its pretty hard to learn on a small board. i would recomend you learn the basics on a rental longboard.if money is tough to cough out.go around the neighborhood doing stuff in exchange for money.walk dog.paint a wall ect. ect. dont exactly go by what i said ask the shaper.hes like a guru for all things surfboard??

yeh biscuit by CI is a good choice but i doubt you'll find a second hand one. If you are just learning obviously a longboards or a hydrid at least 7' would be ideal. Though if your a pretty quick learner, you could try something like a 6'6 fish or sumthn like that since they are pretty skatey and easy to catch waves on. Shortboard recommendation would be something like the CI flyer which will work in the small sloppy waves you should be learning in. Hope this helps.

I never understood why people keep saying snowboarding is like "surfing an endless wave" ... haha that's too funny. It's nothing like surfing. I used to snowboard every weekend. It's more like skating down a wet hill.

Friends of mine really like the egg not just for learning but just for having fun on mushy waves.
