My go to boards are a 6’6” stuart x frap, 6’4” phantom and a 6’3” sub scorcher 2. This hansel has a little more float than those for another option, especially on days when Im feeling my age. Im 51, 6’1” and 94kg.

Sweet board! Looks like they didnt sacrifice too much foam as a step up.. thats usually what keeps me from going with a more traditional one. I'm usually around 37-40 liters too. I try to stay on the higher side for a step up because of the extra wetsuit weight since the waves are usually better in the colder months. Doesnt help being in my mid 40s either.. hoping to be able to shortboard into my 50's too. Did you start out on a shortboard?

I started on a longboard. So far my 50s feel like my forties, so far so good.

Took the hansel out first time yesterday. Sideshore wind, board didn't like the crumblers too much. Liked the steeper hollower waves that snuck through. Head high waves to OH on sets. Needed a bit of a wave to come alive. A keeper.

Miss that about round/pin tails.. they can get so locked in with steep waves. Sounds like a nice find

I'm thinking of buying a 6'2 cohort hs..

I don't usually like hs brand but it's going cheap and when I checked out the model it looked fun..

I looked it up. Seems like a good design. I would ride it but only the 7 foot or 7'6" version LOL because I am an old man and need more help catching waves. I however would prefer to have an extra layer of glass over the back 2/3 of the deck to stop/slow down pressure dings from hard turns
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.
