I have 15 different shortboards, with both FCS II and Futures.

From a surfing perspective zero difference.

Non-surfing issues:

1) FCS II's are prone to fall out easier if you hit the fin on something while surfing. This is good and bad. It's bad that the ocean claimed your fin and you need to buy a new one. It's good that rather than ripping your entire fin box off and possibly destroying the tail of your board, your fin just popped out.

2) FCS II's are easier for traveling. When you're going on a surf trip. FCS II's are super easy, no screws, pop them in and out. Simple.

3) Futures feel more secure to me, and in general I've had less issues with Futures. The screw tightens it good, you know it's locked in there and secured. Gives you peace of mind.

4) FCS II's are more expensive to replace, and are probably the most expensive fin system. It's crazy how much they want for these fins. You can find cheaper options for Futures.
