surfboard length

Postby vandangos » Wed Nov 14, 2007 11:14 pm

hi im thinkin about buying a shortboard but i was wondering what sort of length to get, iv been riding a 7"2 mal for about 2-3 months and iv picked it up really quikly and can go down the line and do some small turns, iv been on a 6"8 shortboard and still do the same as on my mal. but i was wondering what size and shape would be best for me if im going to buy one.im looking for a small to medium wave board. im 6"3 and about 12-13 stone.

im currently looking at a 6"4, 18 3/4", 2 1/2". do you think this would be suitable for me taking my height and weight in to consideration. i take trips up to north coast every weekend if its good normally go bude or in the croyde area surfing about 1-4 ft waves. would this board be suitable for these conditions? if anyone could give me some advice on this that would be great, cheers

those dimentions seem ok for your size. im 5'10 and about 10 stone and i ride a 5'11 x 18ish" x 2". if its your first shortboard get one with fairly full rails for that extra bit of volume. will make paddling easier.
