catching waves late.

any tips on how to catch waves late? The times I've found myself successful was when I take off half way up the wave before I reach the peak. It just seems like everything happens so fast with late waves. its like the back of my board gets raised so fast that I get thrown up into standing position already going down the line. What do you guys do for late waves?

i know what you mean. I usually just use paddling to catch the waves so i find it good to catch the wave a bit late n paddle hard. Gets more momentum and is easier to see where your headed.
