looking for a new board

i'm new to the sight so any help would be great. i have been surfing for a long time not as often as i would like. i moved to san diego and i surf a beach break at ocean beach. my 8 foot Robert august is to hard to turn i want to get a short board i am an ok pattler and i can pop up quick . i am 6'2" 190 I HAVE A 7'4" thin board but i sink it i was thinking a 6'2" fish. i want float and turns but i am very open thank you all

if i were you i would be looking at 6'2-6'4 fish that are relativily thick, with concave rails. the tri fin set up that some of them have make them quite stable, rode my friends and didn't find id any loosser than my thruster. but i've heard that the dual and quad fin fish are looser, i know my quad egg is. a drop from 8 foot will be difficult so it will probubly take you a few sessions to ride this board.

i got myself a 6'6" egg, and its pretty floaty and extreemily menuverable

i like the fish idea but is it a good starter short board? over a short egg i found a shorter egg 7'1" but i dont think it will be good for turning the waves are mushy and i like a waste high wave for now. so a fish is good? thanks again

I would def. go with the Fish. I have a Neilson Hybrid Fish that catches everthing up to about 6' . Anything bigger and it is just too much float, and can't realy handle the speed like my shorty. Good luck with finding the right board.

An egg is good. A fish, depending upon the size and thickness, would be good too. Try South Coast Surf in your neck of the woods. I used to live in SD, but not entirely up on the new shops around town. Good luck.

with your ability and your height/weight, i would suggest a 6'6" with thicker rails and wider deck, preferably swallow tail..as u progress, u can go down a few inches, maybe a 6'4" performance board , squash tail..goodluck!!
