kinda chopped out in the afternoon though which is when i went down There were still some fun sets that low tide did not help matters much the reef was too dodgy in OB and that strong wind was really cutting things up - wish i had gone out at dawn patrol. but man is it me or has the water temp plummeted in the past few days brrr.

We should get some fun surf on sunday should be intresting dealing with the epic high tides forcasted.

Looking forward to the swell picking up again its been kinda bummed lately. One of the forcasts i looked at predicted this

Wed, 10AM 6 ~ 10 onshore 4 kt 8) I have my seriouse doubts though

OB is mainly beach break but south of the pier is reef. But its got some great lefts for goofies although im regular i like riding backside anyway.

Id probbably say MB is slightly more consistant OB gets problems with awkward tides and pretty much closes out hen the surf reaches 12+ this not including the reef side that can hld pretty good. But i cant argue i live right next to it and sunsett cliffs is just don the road when the surf is big :D

However you can get some really sweet barrels by the north jetty in OB when its working

Ive been to IB plenty of times but never actually surfed there so couldnt really compae

 ya OB gets like that they held a local surf contest here not so long ago you no adult and groms the surf was pretty big and it was really foggy even those in the contest were struggling to do anything and the groms rode the whitewater which was pretty cool (it was pretty big surf and super fast closeouts i took a pounding that day  )

If you head down OB give me a shout. The best spots are south of the pier if you are goofy thats the best left. The north Jetty is the best right and gives off some cool barrels like in the pic above. And avalanche is the biggest spot, theres a sand bank there that lifts up the surf and it can break really far out great for left or right, gets crowded though oh and you have to dodge rocks  i have seen many broken boards from people wiping out near the rocks, entirely their fault for not wearing a leash

I've been surfing at the main open part of mission, up closer to the north side when you hit the PB pier, Is the jetty usually more consistent?

the jetty will give you some awsome lefts that is if you are goofy or like riding backside. Of course you could always paddle over the jetty and onto the OB jetty and catch some awsome rights. Just be carefull that you dont get sucked into the jetty those rocks can be painfull to your board and body

Other side of the Jetty is Dog Beach right? I was out there the other day, pretty good, but I'm still pretty new, and it was getting pretty steep. After that good swell on Saturday, it was all blown out from high winds, but I'll have to give it a go again soon. THANKS!

ya its dog beach. Id avoid those breaks in big surf cause they do get very steep something to do with the sand banks there. Although dog beach is epic for learners on a smaller day as it goes straight into the river mouth so you can get some really really long rides. Its no good at low tide / negative tides or when the surf gets over 8ft+ cause they really wall up there. Usually when that happens ill surf the pier or close to it.

If you really like the big surf go to avalanche (middle of OB by the mini rock jety - the one closest to pier) there can be up to 3 different breaks on a big day. Some of them break waaaaaaay out but will give you the ride of your life if you are positioned right :D

As far as the swell is going i think it might cool off for tuesday/wednesday and maybe the waves will get a little more settled.
