single fin shortboard

Postby trails surfing » Mon Nov 20, 2006 10:25 pm

hey i want to get a single fin shortboard, but i'm not sure on the size to get. i ride a 6'2" thruster, and have ben surfing for 14 months. i can do cutbacks and snaps. over the weekend i went to a surf shop and saw two boards, one was 6'0 and the other was 6'2. i was thinking of getting the 6'0 since they were both very thick compared to what i ride.

Why? If you're doing cutbacks and snaps on a thruster, why do you want to go to a single fin?

You would probably just want to go with something similar to what you can already ride. The single fin isn't going to change how it floats you or how it paddles. It will change how it turns/surfs. And, yeah, if it is thicker you can drop the length some.
