I am looking at getting rid of my minimal and getting a shortboard, I have found this one on ebay (in oz) http://cgi1.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dl ... 0024351839

Do they look any good? I am not sure what size or shape to go for (I have contacted the guys).

I could have it waiting for me when I arrive in Oz in January :D

How good of a surfer are you? Where abouts in Aus do you usually surf?

What's you height, weight?

It would be a good board for the gold coast if you 6'+ tall and weighed 70kgs+. I am not so sure about West coast because I heard they get more long second period (more powerful) waves.

Good luck

PS. It is still quite pricey..Maybe go to Byron Bay and get one shaped for you. It would take a few weeks but would cost the same and would be ideal for you.

I have been surfing only in the Uk at present and we are heading out to Perth in January (for good), so am I just better getting a board when I get out there?

I can paddle out, but still need to build that up then sit on the board. I was paddling into and catching about 80% of the waves I went for recently (about 4-6 foot) - I don't know if this was just me or the fact the conditions were perfect!

Then it's a case of just cruising in turning the board along the face as I go - and trying to carve it harder and tighter on the rails - not easy with a minimal.

I can adjust my position on the minimal to change how it planes but it just feels like a cruiser - so do I hang on to it for smaller waves (not really ever ridden much more than 4-5 foot) or sell it and use the money for a shortie?

I am used to riding boards (skate boards, mountain boards, which can be pretty twitchty over rough terrain - I was an ATB instructor).

I am (5'8") 174cm and about (12 stone) 76kgs - what sort of size would you recomend?
