What kind of short board?

I have surfed about 2 times with a friend in daytona beach with a short cruddy board....yea dont follow the names...I want to buy a short board im 5"4 or so and 108 pounds i learn really fast at everything so i even caught my first waves the first time on maybe a 3 footer...i think im going to buy a 6"6 board. But i do not know from what company! any price range works! thanks!

i don't know much about the different companies, but i found this out the hard way, DHD's are glassed nice and thin so they ding and break easily. i don't think that there are too many that you want to stay away from. i always like to make sure that the board i'm getting isn't from china and places like that. China's getting into board shaping and to be honest they're great at mass production but i just don't trust thier boards. ask at the shops and see what they say.

there really is no begginners shortboard. but if you do require a shortboard get one with some width and volume.. maybe a hybrid/shortboard fish would be good for you or maybe even a funboard/shortboard hybrid but most shortboards surf the same unless you get one that is like 5'11' and you are 6'2" and 230lbs
