5'10 or 6'0 for a slim intermediate?

Postby lamotta » Tue Jul 20, 2021 11:20 am

Hi surfers of the world,

I'm deciding the size for my first shorboard! I know the model, a Torq Multiplier https://www.torq-surfboards.com/tec-multiplier.html

But I'm hesitating between
5’10 x 20 1/8” x 2 3/8” 31.2 ltr
6’0 x 20 3/8” x 2 1/2” 33.6 ltr

I'm a intermediate 35 y/o lightweight male (143lbs / 64kg) and 5'10 (178cms) height. I currently ride a 6'4 39L epoxy board that I'll keep. I don't surf very often during winter but I ride weekly in the summertime, normally in Galicia, Spain (nice spots around here by the way!). Starting to do proper bottom turns and basic maneuvers. Waves in this area can go way overhead.

Any recommendation on the best size for me? I fear the 5'10 might slow me down on my learning curve or in the big days, but from the volumen calculators I get that 31 liters should be more than enough for me...any clues are more than welcome!

Cheers,
Jaime

Get the 6'0, but if you get epoxy you could get away with 2 3/8, if not stick to 2 1/2
