turning a shortboard

how do you corectly turn a shortboard? I lean a bit and try to twist my hips, but i find twisting my hips do nothing. I have a 6'6 shortboard. Any pointers?

It's quite easy really
All you do is lean back slightly on your back foot so there's more weight on it and twist/lean in the direction that you want to go
